This publication documents and expands upon the exhibition (April 25–September 3, 2017). In the exhibition, the category-defying works of Robert Stadler (b. 1966) were installed in tandem with Noguchi’s sculptures, raising as many aesthetic, functional, and philosophical questions as possible. The show examined ways in which both Stadler and Noguchi probe—and sometimes undermine—concepts such as “art” and “design,” “functional” and “aesthetic,” “material” and “space.”
